The Zuleta horses are the pride and joy of the Hacienda and we hope for all of our guests to enjoy and experience the beauty they bring. Here at the Hacienda we offer Equitation Classes for beginners as well as for more experienced riders. Even if you have never been on a horse in your life, we can make the experience easy, comfortable and enjoyable.
A first-time rider will be first introduced to the horse from the ground. We talk about the breed, Zuleteño, as a cross between Spanish-Andalusian, Thoroughbreds, and Quarter horses. They are very mild tempered with a smooth gait and are excellent for trail riding. We go over the type of tack the horse is wearing, selected for safety and comfort on a first ride especially. We talk about how to recognize the horse’s mood and what its’ movements signify. And then we go to the ring where the rider is taught about the basics of mounting and how to sit properly and hold the reins.
If the rider chooses, the instructor can lead them around the ring and be in control of the horse the entire time. If not, the rider begins to walk the horse around and learn the basic commands to turn, stop, and how to indicate to the horse to walk or trot. The entire lesson can last from one hour tothree hours, and if the rider desires there is always the option to go on a short trail ride with the instructor and a local guide after the lesson. It is a perfect way to get to know the hacienda and the beautiful scenery that surrounds it.
La primera clase de equitación Los caballos de Zuleta son el orgullo y alegría de la Hacienda, y siempre esperamos que los huéspedes pueden disfrutar y experimentar su belleza. Ofrecemos Clases de Equitación para principiantes y también para jinetes con mayor experiencia. Si nunca has experimentado una clase de equitación, podemos hacer que la experiencia sea fácil, cómoda y agradable.
Un jinete principiante empezará su entrenamiento desde el terreno, buscando al caballo en la manada. Nuestros caballos son una mezcla de Españoles-Andaluces, Inglés, y Cuarto de Milla, de temperamento muy suave y son muy buenos para las cabalgatas. El siguiente paso será aprender a poner la montura y por supuesto revisar que todos los pasos se hayan hecho correctamente para su seguridad. Luego aprenderemos cómo reconocer el humor del caballo y qué significan sus movimientos. Y después, en el corral, repasaremos sobre los pasos básicos de subir el caballo, cómo sentarse y manejar las riendas.
Si el jinete elige, el instructor puede guiar el caballo dentro del corral y estar en control de él todo el tiempo. Si no, puede empezar a guiar el caballo y aprender como girar, parar y como indicar al caballo andar y trotar. La clase puede durar de una hora hasta tres y si el jinete decide, pueden hacer una cabalgata corta después con el instructor y un guía local. Es una manera perfecta de conocer la hacienda y la belleza que la rodea.
